Our Jr. PAW Club is a great way for kids to learn about critters of all kinds and get involved in helping animals. Members receive a membership card, 10% off educational programs - including summer camp - and invitations to regular club events held here at the Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA.

Club events include hands-on experiences with animals of all types, special guest speakers and opportunities to help out the animals here at the Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA. Membership extends through May 2014.

Annual Membership Fee:

Single child and family memberships are available. Memberships are through the calendar year only.

  • Single child membership: $75
  • Family membership (up to 3 siblings): $125

Reservations are required for all events to esinur@aawl.org.

August 24, 2013 - Dog Days of Summer
Join us for this HOT Jr. Paw Club all about dogs! Make some cool treats for the pups at AAWL and create a sign with ways to keep dogs safe during the summer months to display at the Sonia Breslow adoption center.

September 28, 2013 - Expert Groomers
Learn the basics of animal grooming in this exciting and hands-on class! Grooming is an important part of caring for your dog or cat and keeping them healthy. 

October 26, 2013 - Animal Art
Did you know that animals are natural-born artists? Just look at the array of colors on a pheasant, watch the pattern of a snake slithering in the sand or watch a flock of birds fly in formation. Learn about the art of nature and create a piece of your own to take home with you!

November 16, 2013 - Rat-a-Tat
Did you know that the domestic rat is more intelligent than the average 2-year old? Jr. Paw Club members will learn how to handle, care for and make a special enrichment activity for the rats in our education department.

December 21, 2013 - Polar Express
Take a ride on AAWL's version of the Polar Express! See a variety of animals who thrive in cold climates and make a diorama displaying polar bear hibernation.

January 25, 2014 - Green Pets

Did you know you can help your pet and help the planet at the same time? Learn how to be an eco-friendly pet owner in this hands-on and informative class.

February 22, 2014 - Love a Shelter Pet
February is the month for love. Let's show the animals at the Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA a little love in the class through socialization, treats and decorating their kennel with special messages.

March 22, 2014 - Let's Make a Difference!
You are the future animal caregivers of our world! Let's show others just how caring and considerate kids can be through an advocacy project for endangered animals.

April 26, 2014 - Breed all about it!
There are over 150 dog breeds in the world today compared to fewer than 40 that were in existence in the early 1900's. What happened between then and now to create such a diverse and extensive catalog of dog breeds? Let's discover all of the mysteries behind dog breeds and maybe find a few examples in our shelter.

May 30, 2014 - Down Under
Let's explore the incredibly diverse and large continent of Australia. From kangaroos and Tasmanian devils to the corals of the Great Barrier Reef and monitor lizards, there are an array of animals and habitats to uncover.

June & July 2014 - NO CLASS (Summer Camp)

August 23, 2014 - Sittin' in the Sun
Unlike mammals, reptiles are cold-blooded and must use the sun's heat to create warmth and energy. Let's learn all about the ectothermic processes involved and meet some of these amazing creatures; reptiles!

September 27, 2014 - Animal Photography
Do you love to browse the pages of National Geographic magazine and see all of the amazing pictures of wildlife? Learn the tips and tricks that animal photographers use. Please bring a digital camera or camera-phone to this fun course.

October 25, 2014 - Animal Science
Scientists are still learning new thing about animals every day. See firsthand the biology and chemistry of an array of species.

November 15, 2014 - Pets-giving
Giving back is important! AAWL will host a Pets-giving in honor of the homeless dogs and cats in shelters everywhere. Please bring one donated cat or dog related item to this course.

December 20, 2014 - Snow Day
It's a snow day in Phoenix! We will uncover the basics behind this one of a kind phenomenon; snow!
