What is the Legacy League?
The Arizona Animal Welfare League’s Legacy League was established to ensure a safe and secure future for homeless pets for many years to come. As a no-kill shelter we commit whatever resources are necessary, for as long as necessary, until each animal we rescue finds a new loving home.
As a member of the Legacy League, your name will be displayed on our campus (unless you prefer to remain anonymous), and you will have the opportunity to enroll in our “Angels for Animals” program. The great benefit, however, is knowing that you are helping homeless animals for many years to come.
How can I join the Legacy League?
There are many ways to benefit homeless animals at AAWL as you plan your giving:
- Name the Arizona Animal Welfare League as a beneficiary in a Will or Living Trust
- Create a Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) and name the Arizona Animal Welfare League as the beneficiary
- Name the Arizona Animal Welfare League as the beneficiary of a paid life insurance policy or retirement account

Angels For Animals
If you have made a specific planned gift or included the Arizona Animal Welfare League in your will or trust, you are eligible for membership in our Angels for Animals program for your domestic dogs and/or cats. There are two options from which to choose:
PRE-PLANNED
If a minimum donation of $10,000.00 is given to AAWL, upon enrollment in the program, we will take up to (5) domesticated (not feral or outdoor only) cats/dogs upon your death. If you have more than five pets we will be happy to discuss options with you. AAWL will also take your pets under this option if you become incapacitated or are otherwise no longer able to take care of them.
GIFT IN WILL
If the required donation is paid after death as part of a will or trust, a minimum of $15,000.00 donation is required for AAWL to accept up to five domesticated cats/dogs upon your death. Should you have no pets surviving you, we hope that you will stipulate that your gift still goes to AAWL to help other homeless animals that need a second chance.
