FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -
More dogs in the Valley are becoming sick with a dangerous bacteria and three have died.

The leptospirosis bacteria is very contagious, and causes vomiting, shaking and lethargy, among other symptoms. It can also spread to humans.

You can get a vaccine for your dog to prevent it.

The Arizona Animal Welfare League is also offering vaccines this weekend, but the group only has 50 doses.

You can go to AAWL's location at 30 N. 40th Place in Phoenix this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The vaccines will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. The organization will also offer other vaccines and microchipping at a reduced cost.

Maricopa County health officials said more than 50 dogs have been diagnosed with leptospirosis over the past year and the outbreak is ongoing. Click here to learn more about leptospirosis.
