General Statement of Duties: The Chandler Assistant Manager provides, in the absence of the Manager, functional direction to AAWL’s Chandler team in general store operations, animal care, adoptions and post-adoptions support, and a variety of customer interactions, participating in the same work. The Assistant Manager supports the Manager in a variety of inventory and supplies purchasing duties, cash management, and inventory management. This role also assists with resolving complex customer situations prior to escalation to the Chandler Manager or Director of Adoption programs. The Chandler Assistant Manager assists in training new Chandler team members and volunteers.
Supervision Received: This position reports directly to the Chandler Manager
Supervision Exercised: Functional supervision of Chandler Specialists in the absence of the Chandler Manager.
Responsibilities
• Assist the Chandler Manager in keeping the team on target with daily tasks and goals.
• Work with potential adopters using conversational adoption processes.
• Retail duties include inventory management, stocking, display, and window presentation.
• Promote retail sales and solicit at-the-counter donations to support AAWL programs and services.
• Actively participate in the care, handling, and feeding of dogs and cats at the Chandler location.
• Create an inviting, welcoming, and supportive environment for volunteers, customers and staff.
• Use various Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) for information tracking and communication.
• Cash handling and management to include opening, balancing, and closing the till.
• Other duties as assigned to support overall Chandler Adoption Center operations.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 1 year working in a face-to-face retail or customer service position is required.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in dog and/or cat handling, other than your own pets, is required.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills are required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
Requirements
• Salary starts at $17.02 – $21.30 per year
