If you have a passion for animal welfare and want to directly impact AAWL’s life saving mission, we have an open position on our intake team. This position is both in-field evaluating and transporting animals and in-office preparing dogs/cats for adoption. This position requires that you be 21 or older and have a clean driving record (insurance company requirement to drive our vehicles); that you are able to lift 50 lbs regularly; you must be computer literate; willing to draw blood, administer vaccines and microchip dogs. You cannot be allergic to nor have a fear of dogs/cats of any size or breed. We work a varied schedule each week, and some days may start as early as 5:30am or may end as late as 7pm – depending on the trips scheduled. Part-time position approx. 20 – 25 hours/week. Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Perform assigned tasks such as evaluating, selecting, and transporting animals.
Draw blood, administer vaccines and microchips.
Be detailed in providing communication with staff.

Quickly and accurately data enter animal information to software
Should be able to multi-task and provide training and supervision where necessary.

Work directly with our volunteers. Clear communication and positive attitude is a key component.
Understand and promote our mission and policies. Be able to support and be a advocate for our organization regarding animal welfare issues.

Qualifications

Animal handling experience preferred
Must have the ability to work in the extreme heat of summer and cold in winter
Must have excellent verbal and written skills. Computer literacy is required.
Must have flexibility in schedule.
Be able to work in a demanding and potentially stressful environment.
Must have the physical strength and ability to lift and carry a maximum of 50lbs, perform duties assigned in and out the shelter that requires lifting, bending, stooping and other strenuous activities.
Driver license and clean driving record required.
