About Our Animal Clinic
MDPet Care Animal Clinic is the Arizona Welfare League's premier low cost veterinary clinic.
MDPet Care Animal Clinic’s mission is to be a supportive and valuable resource for pet guardians, by providing a lower cost option for veterinary care. We believe that by providing this service, pet guardians may be able to provide both vital and routine veterinary care for their companion animals.
Our clinic offers wellness examinations, dental procedures, soft-tissue surgeries (such as lump removals), toe nail trims, and more...
We also offer a walk-in vaccination and microchip clinic. Our walk-in clinic offers low cost vaccination packages.
Please Note: We offer routine spay and neuter services; however, we are not a “low cost spay and neuter clinic”. If you are seeking a lower cost spay and/or neuter we recommend “Altered Tails”. Please visit their website at www.alteredtails.org. While visiting their website you will find a discount coupon. You may use this printable coupon when using Altered Tails for your Low Cost Spay and Neuter needs
We see animals by appointment; and do not see walk-ins. Overnight hospitalization and free veterinary services are not available. All fees are due at the time of service. We accept Cash, Debit or Credit Cards. We do not accept personal checks.
We will collect a $35 deposit for all anesthetic procedures at the time the appointment is booked. In the event of a no show or cancellation within 24 hours of the appointment, the deposit will become a donation to the Arizona Animal Welfare League.
We know that animals enrich our lives. Our goal is to ensure that pets receive the veterinary care they need to live a long and healthy life.

Meet Our Veterinarians
Dr. Bukowy joined Arizona Animal Welfare League in April 2015 as staff veterinarian at our low cost public clinic, MDPetCare. Dr. Bukowy was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She worked in not-for-profit and shelter medicine in Chicago and the surrounding area until moving to Arizona 2 years ago. She was in private practice until joining the AAWL team. Her animal family includes a dog Amarula – who happens to be the first dog Dr. Bukowy spayed in veterinary school! She also has 3 cats – Orlando, Harrison and Bill – all rescues and each with their own story!
Dr. Lisa Darling
Dr. Lisa Darling received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University, her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, and her Masters’ in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Dr. Darling has worked in many facets of veterinary medicine including large animal medicine and surgery, publishing within the industry, veterinary pharmaceutical development, teaching within the industry, companion animal private practice, and shelter medicine. She was previously the Chief Veterinarian for Yavapai Humane Society for many years. Dr. Darling has a special interest in the investigation of animal cruelty and abuse cases and is also currently an instructor for the University of Missouri’s Law Extension Division training peace officers and police in the collection of evidence and management of such cases. Dr. Darling is owned by 4 Welsh Cobs, a husky mix (failed foster), a Jack Russell, as well as her cat.
When she is not spending time assisting with the care and placement of our animals at AAWL, she can usually be found spending time riding or training one of her ponies or hiking with one of her rescue dogs.
Dr. Darling will be working Mondays and Tuesdays at MDPetCare
