The kids are out of school which means they are most likely already bored if you haven’t found a summer camp. So what are you going to do to keep them entertained without emptying your wallet? If they love animals, you may want to check out the Arizona Animal Welfare League.

If you have not heard of AAWL  , it is one of the oldest and largest no-kill animal shelter in the Valley. They also offer many ways for kids to learn about the shelter and caring for the animals. One way is through their week-long summer camps.

Camp Ruffin It is for kids ages 9 to 12 and gives them a lot of hands on fun. Kids will be able to interact with many kinds of animals from cockatoos to cats. For the tweens and teens, it’s the Camp Vet Program, where they get to perform dissections and will watch a live surgery in the clinic.

The cost of Camp Ruffin It is $275 for a full day, which is from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Snacks are provided but campers must bring their own lunch.

Smart Shoppers have a chance to get the experience for a great price.

If you call or email AAWL by Wednesday, May 27, at 5 p.m., you will get half off two specific weeks at Camp Ruffin It; July 6-10 and July 20-24.

The discount is only valid for July 6-10 and July 20-24 and only for Camp Ruffin It.  Camp Vet is not included in this deal.

You must 602-273-6852 ext. 122 or email eduadmin@aawl.org for reservations and you must register by Wednesday, May 27, to get this deal.  Don’t forget to mention Smart Shopper.
