Offsite Youth Workshop

Character Counts!
This one hour presentation is designed for children in elementary school (3rd grade — 6th grade). We explore the six pillars of character, Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship, through responsible pet care. Children will also learn about the different needs pets have, animal safety, as well as getting to meet some of our exotic animals!

This presentation can be altered or changed for age group, topics, or a character education program other than Character Counts™.

E-mail sarah@aawl.org for details and to register your class.

Dog, Cat and Critter Care
Dog, Cat & Critter Care is appropriate for children of all ages and designed to travel to classrooms all over the Valley! During this one hour presentation, children are introduced to the Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA and what we do in the community. We then begin a discussion about a number of different animals that are common pets. We emphasize the different needs and care that pets require. We explore the importance of choosing the right pet for the family and the role that research plays in preparing for a new pet.  The children meet some of our furry and not so furry friends; Rats, Bearded Dragons, Leopard Geckos, Ferrets, and Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, just to name a few!

Dog, Cat & Critter Care is an interactive and hands-on presentation.

This presentation can be adapted to meet specific requested topics. Largest optimal number of participants for this presentation is 30 (or one class at a time).  Presenting to groups larger than 30 does necessitate minimizing the hands-on aspect of this program.

Workshops are $145 for the first class and $100 for each additional, consecutive class.

E-mail sarah@aawl.org for details and to register your class. Qualifying schools may be able to waive workshop fee.
